When I first moved to the Caribbean. Not having daylight savings kind of threw me off, but it's so much better without it. I spend half the year on Pacific and a half on Mountain due to no DST and the half I spend on Mountain sucks because it just means everything happens an hour later because everyone else in the country shifted back an hour but for me. I'd much rather be synced with Pacific year-round than have the switch. That is a consequence of spending most of my free time online though, if I was out being social there wouldn't be a relative time set back. Ironically though, I would end up locked on Mountain, not Pacific, if we were stuck on DST so there is no real winning for me haha.

No real benefit in Colombia is so close to the equator. The only reason you'd do it is to stay in the same time zone relative to the U.S. and presumably your neighbors if they also change clocks. Up further north, there's a large difference between the amount of daylight in winter vs. summer. In summer it would be getting light out before you wake up which kinds screws with sleep. So, we move the clocks forward. There are also some energy savings since businesses are open during daylight hours. I've tried and recommended some of those things. We used to play games online together too. But he's more of the type to need me to be physically there. It's ironic because I learned to be more independent and keep my distance because of him. I used to be the one who always wanted to see and hang out with him, while he was fine with just seeing me once or twice a week before I left to go work overseas. The vulnerable part, I've always been the more emotional and vulnerable one in my family and in social situations, and I've been shut down a lot to by family and friends so it's hard to open up to people and just be their ears.
