I’m no expert but I know my bf is happier and more open with me when I work with him like a friend taking the piss and not stressing him out by being aggressive. I personally also like relationship check-ins where I go first - how we’ve been feeling and if things have been resolved after a recent particular fight and how much I’m appreciating being with him. If there are some problems bothering me I gently bring them up and ask him if there’s anything on his mind. A lot of times he’s just like Nah and I let it go because maybe there really isn’t anything and I know even if it comes out later that’s the time he’s taken to process it and we can go from there.
