Happened to my friend. Her sister had a cat and a dog. Cat and dog got along well enough, apparently. She went to live with her sister after her divorce and brought her dog, so now there are two dogs and a cat. My friend’s dog had been around cats before on its own and also never bothered them. They left one day and came back to a slaughterhouse. Something about the two dogs together just meant death for that poor cat. A friend of mine had 5 cats and 2 large dogs. For years there were no problems at all. Until last month she came home to one cat killed and half-eaten. I would never leave a cat alone with a dog in the same room for more than 5 minutes.

I've tried and recommended some of those things. We used to play games online together too. But he's more of the type to need me to be physically there. It's ironic because I learned to be more independent and keep my distance because of him. I used to be the one who always wanted to see and hang out with him, while he was fine with just seeing me once or twice a week before I left to go work overseas.
